Florida Panthers announce initiative to support local hockey

The Florida Panthers are entering into a strategic partnership with Pointstreak Sports Technologies that will see them provide local grassroots hockey organizations with cutting-edge sports technology services.

SUNRISE, Fla. – Youth hockey players, parents and cash-strapped hockey associations in Southern Florida have some time-saving technology upgrades to look forward to.

In a move related to the recently announced partnership between the Florida Panthers and Pointstreak 5050, the Panthers will also be entering into a strategic partnership with Pointstreak 5050’s parent company, Pointstreak Sports Technologies, that will see the Panthers equipping youth and recreational hockey associations with top-of-the-line sports technology services, such as new websites, registration systems and official statistics software.

“Actions speak louder than words,” said Ken Cook, Pointstreak’s COO, “and the message the Panthers organization is saying is clear: We are here to help grassroots hockey in our own backyard. With this partnership in particular, the Panthers are choosing to go above and beyond normal efforts and are funding technology upgrades for teams in their local community. In accordance with the Florida Panthers Foundation’s mission to assist families and children in the area pursue enhanced health, education and fitness, this grassroots initiative will see the Panthers underwrite the costs of installing Pointstreak sports software to grassroots hockey organizations.

“Technology used to be a nice-to-have in youth sports. Now it is an integral part of it,” said Peter Luukko, Panthers Executive Chairman, “Eliminating manual entry of scores, Pointstreak provides young players with their statistics delivered in real-time. With their stats accessible on Pointstreak through we aim to make all youth hockey players in South Florida a part of the Panthers.”

Qualified associations and teams will be provided with professional websites whose content they can manage themselves, official league scoring and statistics software, and online registration and payment tools, all of which will help busy parents and cash-strapped youth hockey organizations simply do more with less.
